Te Pūaotanga

Te Pūaotanga Dawn. Emergence. Coming into the light. Te Pūaotanga is the inaugural Toi Māori exhibition presented by Tātai Manawa and curated by Frances Piacun. Bringing together established and emerging Māori artists from across Aotearoa, the exhibition celebrates whakapapa, storytelling and the diverse expressions of contemporary Māori creativity.

This is a celebration of what is here, what has always been here, and what is now coming into the light.

Through Te Pūaotanga, each artist brings their own voice, identity and creative practice. Together, the works create connections across whakapapa, inherited knowledge, contemporary Māori experience and the stories carried through toi.
