Maia Gibbs

Maia Gibbs is a multidisciplinary artist from Te Tairāwhiti whose practice is grounded in whakapapa and mātauranga Māori. Working across tā moko, painting, design and contemporary creative practice, Maia brings ancestral narratives into new spaces and contexts. With nearly two decades of experience, his work moves between traditional foundations and contemporary expression. Maia also shapes the visual and symbolic language of O Te Rā, where Māori creative expression meets scent.
