Elspeth Leggett

Elspeth grew up in Tūranganui-a-Kiwa with a deep connection to whenua, te taiao and her journey as a mana wahine. Moving to Brazil at 17 strengthened her understanding of the importance of whakapapa and whānau. Since returning home, she has studied at Toihoukura, deepening her connection to toi Māori and her whakapapa. Working across relief, painting and cultural exploration, Elspeth weaves stories of heritage, identity and belonging into her work, using art as a space for healing, reflection and connection.
