Anahera Lewis Kemara

A contemporary Māori artist and proud descendant of Ngāi Tūhoe, Te Arawa, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui and Ngāti Kahungunu ki Te Wairoa, she was born and raised in Rotorua, immersed in te ao Māori from a young age. Becoming a māmā has deepened her connection to whakapapa and inspired her to create work that honours her tūpuna and future generations. Her paintings draw on native manu, whenua and pūrākau, exploring identity, belonging and the connection between people, nature and whakapapa.
